Families find themselves in a Financial Literacy program to deal with a money emergency or (preferably) to prevent such an emergency. Ideally, the family learns about better money management – but do they learn what role money should play in their lives?

Lagom is a Swedish that roughly translates to ‘Just Right’. It does not mean average, sufficient, moderate or adequate – it means the right amount for the circumstances. It is an expression of comfort and has elements of the concept of “Gemütlichkeit” or coziness.

In the previous blog, “Four Human Assets“, this model was introduced. In this blog, four lives demonstrating the importance of balancing the ‘4Human-Assets’.

Accountants define an asset as: “…a resource controlled by the entity as a result of past events and from which future economic benefits are expected to flow to the entity.” [1]

Central to most financial literacy programs is fraud awareness. How to keep the bad guys from getting your money, possessions or good name. Who Wants to be a Fraudster? is a variation of the classic bingo game in which participants match a term or concept to a fraud related question.

It is sometimes necessary to divide a group up randomly. While the good ole’ fashion count-down-the-line works, it fails to give the resulting groups a starting point of their own identity.

You get promoted based on past good work until you are in a position in which your skills, experience and aptitude are no longer aligned with the job functions. Meant to be tongue in cheek, what happens if we don’t have to stay incompetent – what happens if we can become a different person?
