The section of land occupying the Northern portion of Newton Lake is Crown Land of which the Southwest quarter is designated a natural area. The other quarters are grazing leases.
This site is adjacent to Newton Lake and is good waterfowl habitat. It contains moderately to strongly rolling terrain, primarily aspen with depressional areas.
