Back to South West Quadrant – YEG-Ville.
The vision is a trail from the City of Devon to the Fort Saskatchewan along the North Saskatchewan river. The trail on the North side of the river, in Parkland County is one component of this larger plan – even if it currently does not connect to the next community.
The Fast Facts
- EASY-PEASY.
- Worth Visiting
- Maybe Washrooms.
- Not Kid Focused
- Low Beginner
Initially part of the Devonian Trail, the trail branches where the Devonian Trail heads north towards Tucker’s Field. Very quickly, a massive stair case descends to the valley floor. There are numerous braided trails where fat/mountain bikers have carved their own routes. The main trail is wide, well maintained in the winter and not particularly long. From the bottom of the stairs to the next set of stairs (and where the trail peters out) is about 2km.

- Is it Worth It and Why Go Here?: Yes, although for a relatively short hike with a nice lung-busting climb back up the stairs. Excellent vistas of the river valley.

- The Other Shoe: Fat biking, walking.
- Kid Rating: Kids will have fun as kids do running down trails, jumping on logs and generally burning off energy. The steep stairs maybe daunting to little legs… or big legs carrying them.
