Life After the Zoom-bie Apocalypses (e.g. post COVID)
The post-COVID world needs to re-introduce people to each other and create human connections. The following game is designed for a large group of people with varying degrees of familiarity with each other, for example, the start of a large Financial Literacy program.
The Game in 30-Seconds or Less
OBJECTIVE: Event-attendees talk to each other about a personal interest (a ‘Factoid’); via a structured, fun game.
HOW TO PLAY: Each person gets a card with 16 (4×4) Factoids printed on it. The Factoids on the card were previously collected and the cards printed prior to the event. During the play, the card holder, seeks out the owners of the Factoids. When found, the Factoid is marked off. Prizes are given for most Factoids found and other attributes.
Factoids are ideally submitted by the players in advance. Alternatively, some or all of the Factoids are random words assigned to a player. The latter can be used for all players or just those who did not provide a Factoid.
RANGE OF PLAY: The Game is best structured for a group between 20-200 persons. Some scaling down and up is possible. The game might be adaptable to virtual environment but is designed for in-person play.
END OF PLAY: The game ends after a defined period of time or when the first person gets a set number of squares filled.
BASIC MATERIAL: A method to collect the Factoids, printed cards, prizes and instructions.
The above are the basics. If you want to read more, check out Factoid Bingo – Details which provides more, ummm – details.
What Do You Think?
Although this game was designed with a large Financial Literacy event in mind, it can easily be scaled to a conference, staff meeting, or a family reunion. Best for participants who have at least basic literacy in the same language and about aged 8+.
