Lois Hole Provincial Park – North + Big Lake Interpretive Trail [FINAL EDITING]

[FINAL EDITING]

Back to North West Quadrant – YEG-Ville.

The North section of Lois Hole Provincial Park is inaccessible by road as it is surrounded by other land owners.

Fortunately one of those landowners is Ducks Unlimited. They have created an interpretative trail permiting access to the lake as well as the provincial park.

Where is the Trail?

The Fast Facts

  • NOT MUCH HERE.
  • Worth visiting as place to put-in or take-out.
  • No Washrooms.
  • Not Kid Focused
  • Low Beginner if you staff off the lake (like that is going to happen).

Okay, that was the plan anyway in 1996. There is very little trail or interpretation; which is okay. The land owned by Ducks Unlimited is important bird habitat, very poor farm land or a very soggy housing development.

There is no particular reason to follow this trail other than it is the only access point from Meadowview Road to Big Lake. In season, the lake freezes well meaning that you can walk across or even put together an outing connecting the different bits of the park. Look for activity on the lake including the occasional skier, ice fisher or even a para-glider.
